SIAM1928 is an award-winning independent Thai perfume house, officially founded in 2019 by Karnchana Wesshasartar, a third-generation successor to the family fragrance tradition, and Nutt Wesshasartar, its fourth-generation heir and perfumer.
The house grew from a story that began in 1928 with Num Ob Prung Chaokhun (น้ำอบปรุงเจ้าคุณ), a traditional Thai perfumed water created by Khun Ying Boontham Boriraknittikaset. Today, SIAM1928 reinterprets this inherited knowledge through contemporary fragrances inspired by Thai mythology, folklore, literature, rituals, nature, and emotional memory—presented in porcelain bottles formed and finished by hand in Thailand

Nearly a century before SIAM1928 became a contemporary perfume house, Khun Ying Boontham Boriraknittikaset created Num Ob Prung Chaokhun at the family’s Thippaya O-Sotsathan shop.
The perfumed water became part of Thai religious and cultural life. It has traditionally been used to scent water for bathing Buddha images and paying respect to elders during blessing ceremonies. In these traditions, fragrance accompanies wishes for happiness, good health, and good fortune.
The knowledge and family formula were passed down from one generation to the next and continue to be preserved today.
In 2018, fourth-generation heir Nutt Wesshasartar began developing original compositions intended for contemporary personal wear. Rather than reproducing the past literally, he translated the philosophy, memories, and rituals of traditional Thai fragrance into a modern olfactory language.
In April 2019, Nutt and third-generation successor Karnchana Wesshasartar established Thippaya O-Sotsathan Co., Ltd. and formally introduced SIAM1928 to a new generation of fragrance lovers.
The name SIAM1928 unites “Siam”—the former name of Thailand, chosen to evoke an era rich in Thai art and culture—with 1928, the year the family’s fragrance story began.

Art of Alluring Scent is SIAM1928’s creative philosophy: the belief that fragrance can transform Thai culture, stories, and memory into an experience worn on the skin.
Every SIAM1928 fragrance begins with a Thai story. Mythology, folklore, literature, history, rituals, landscapes, and personal memories shape not only the scent composition, but also its poetry, illustration, and packaging.
Culture is never applied as decoration after a fragrance is complete. It guides the creative process from the first idea, allowing each creation to offer a contemporary interpretation rooted in a distinct aspect of Thailand.
Each fragrance is accompanied by original poetry in Thai and English, written to evoke its atmosphere and the way it unfolds over time on the skin.
Together, the main SIAM1928 collection forms a multi-chapter narrative universe. Its journey begins in the human realm, moves through the spirits and legendary creatures of Himmaphan, and ascends toward the heavenly realms. Each fragrance stands on its own while contributing to a wider story of Thai imagination, belief, and cultural memory.
Our Philosophy: Art of Alluring Scent
SIAM1928 chose porcelain so its signature bottle could be created in Thailand by Thai artisans, keeping the craft close to the culture that inspires the fragrance.
The rounded form takes inspiration from traditional blue-and-white vessels used when water is scented with fragrant candles during the making of Num Ob Prung. Its shape was adapted to rest comfortably in the hand.
Every bottle is formed and finished by hand in Thailand. The forming stage is completed without automated machinery before each piece is refined, glazed, decorated, and fired in small batches.
The bottle is made from porcelain—not Bone China—and its ceramic body contains no bone ash or animal-derived material. Its near-opaque surface also helps limit the fragrance’s exposure to light, one of the external conditions that can affect fragrance stability.
Because of the nature of porcelain and the manual process, small variations in shape, thickness, and glaze are to be expected. These are not imperfections, but individual signatures of craftsmanship: no two bottles are exactly alike.
The porcelain bottle and external packaging are produced in Thailand, supporting local craftsmanship and allowing every part of the presentation to remain connected to the identity of SIAM1928.
Awards and Recognition
In 2020, SIAM1928’s perfume packaging received Thailand’s Design Excellence Award (DEmark) in the Packaging Design category, recognizing the way Thai storytelling, illustration, and ceramic craft were brought together in a contemporary form.
In 2025, Mekha Aranya, created by Nutt Wesshasartar, received the Art and Olfaction Award for Artisan Perfume.
Selected through blind judging by an international panel, Mekha Aranya is an osmanthus-centered fragrance inspired by Mhom, a mythical guardian found in Northern Thai folklore. The award marked an important international recognition for SIAM1928 and for a contemporary fragrance created from a distinctly Thai cultural perspective.
