Suvarna Mayura

Suvarna Mayura means “Golden Peacock.” The name comes from a Jataka, one of the stories of the Buddha's former lives. A peacock with golden feathers chants at dawn and dusk, remaining safe from hunters for many years. Desire eventually distracts him and he is caught, but compassion brings his release. Golden plumage, the sound of prayer and the forest he returns to all find a place in this bright floral fragrance.

Sweet orange and bergamot open with the freshness of morning light touching feathers. The citrus is juicy and gently sharp before champaca, jasmine sambac, gardenia and orange blossom become clearer. Champaca brings warmth, jasmine sambac a stronger floral presence, gardenia a creamy softness, and orange blossom keeps brightness within the bouquet.

Poplar bud introduces a honey-like sweetness that connects the flowers. Looking more closely at the scent reveals smooth petals and warmer details between them. Some of the opening freshness remains around the fuller bouquet, giving it air and room to develop. It recalls a peacock slowly opening its tail, with different colours and details becoming visible as the light catches them.

Sandalwood, patchouli and oakmoss provide smooth wood, earth and the damp greenery of a forest floor. Civet and musk root add an animalic texture beneath the flowers. Their sweetness gradually becomes softer on this substantial base, while a little of the opening radiance remains. The peacock's beauty is described through several familiar smells together: fresh fruit, generous flowers and deeper wood and earth, from the first light of day to the shade of evening.
