Suk-Jai is a limited-edition Eau de Parfum created by Bangkok perfume house SIAM1928 in collaboration with Bar B Q Plaza, a Thai shared-grill restaurant brand founded in 1987.

Inspired by the happiness of cooking and eating together, the fragrance translates crisp green cabbage, the savoury character of dipping sauce, aromatic seeds, soft woods and clean musk into an unexpectedly elegant scent.

A Thai Shared-Grill Story

In Thailand, gathering around a tabletop grill is as much a social ritual as it is a meal. Moo kratha is one familiar form of this experience: diners cook ingredients together on a domed pan, grilling meat on its raised centre while cabbage and vegetables simmer in broth around the edge.

Food is cooked, passed and shared slowly across the table. Although deeply familiar in everyday Thai life, this style of communal dining remains less internationally visible than Thailand’s better-known dishes.

Suk-Jai uses Bar B Q Plaza’s distinctive self-grilling experience as a contemporary lens through which SIAM1928 shares Thailand’s wider culture of communal tabletop cooking.

The Meaning of Suk-Jai

Suk-Jai (สุขใจ) means feeling happy or content. Its sound also echoes sook (สุก), the Thai word for cooked.

As the food cooks, happiness grows.

Why Cabbage and Dipping Sauce?

At Bar B Q Plaza, cabbage is a signature part of the meal rather than a decorative side dish. In Suk-Jai, Green Cabbage captures its transformation from crisp, watery and vividly green to tender and wrapped in warm steam.

Violet Leaf extends the cool, leafy freshness, while Black Pepper adds a dry sparkle that recalls seasoning and rising warmth.

The restaurant’s dipping sauce is interpreted through a Soybean Accord—a perfumer’s expression of smooth, savoury, lightly creamy and gently sweet depth, rather than a literal reproduction of the recipe.

Carrot Seed and Coriander Seed add soft earthiness and transparent spice. White Musk and Sandalwood leave a clean, tender and skin-close warmth.

Suk-Jai is not designed to smell like grilled meat, charcoal or smoke. It captures the freshness, anticipation and companionship surrounding the meal.

Meet Bar B Gon

The green dragon illustrated on the bottle is Bar B Gon, Bar B Q Plaza’s mascot and long-standing brand symbol, introduced in 1996.

His presence on the Suk-Jai bottle represents the cheerful, playful and familiar spirit of gathering around the grill with friends and family.
