Wentai, Garuda, embraces Kakee with fervent might,
Soaring over the grand, endless ocean in flight.
Towards the celestial, they gracefully ascend,
Admiring the warmth of love, a bond that won’t bend.
Embraces ablaze with passion, a dance so profound,
Inhaling scents, fragrances endlessly abound.
Together, they twirl in the deep of the night,
Their fiery union, like a passionate flame’s height.

WENTAI
“Kakee Kam Klon or Poem of Kakee (The Beginning)” is a poetic masterpiece composed during the reign of King Rama I (1782-1809) in the Rattanakosin Kingdom. It was crafted by Chao Phraya Phra Klang (Hon), drawing inspiration from certain Buddhist scriptures and reimagined into elegant poetry. Additional verses were added throughout the reigns of Kings Rama IV and V, completing the composition.
The story begins with “Kakee,” consort of King Phrommathat of the city of Paranasri, known for her exquisite beauty and a fragrance more enchanting than any earthly flower, lingering on those who encounter her for seven days and nights.
One day, while Wentai, King of the Garuda, was gambling with King Phrommathat, he encountered Kakee and fell deeply in love with her. He kidnapped her against her will, and she later became his queen consort. However, the demigod Natakuvera sought her return to King Phrommathat, but during their journey, he raped her due to her irresistible beauty.
Upon returning to Paranasri, Kakee is unjustly exiled by King Phrommathat, accused of infidelity. She faces various trials and encounters with men, leading to conflicts and warfare, ultimately never experiencing true love due to her excessive beauty.
The narrative primarily revolves around sexual desires and immoral acts. However, viewed from another perspective, the tale of Kakee offers an intriguing depiction of the complex relationship dynamics between men and women in ancient times.
There are several legends surrounding Garuda. Some depict Garuda as a singular entity, while others portray it as a species of creature from the Himmapan forest. Hindu mythology mentions the first Garuda born in the universe, the offspring of Kashyapa and Vinata. Named Wentai, meaning “son of Vinata” in this legend, he is considered the mightiest Garuda, the progenitor of all Garudas. Despite his illustrious history, Wentai succumbs to the allure of a maiden, leading to the creation of an epic. This narrative serves as an intriguing point for interpreting the “desires of the mighty,” and we choose the scene of “golden hour love-making in the sky” between Wentai and Kakee to convey this meaning more explicitly, utilizing scent as a medium.
Initially, we utilize Aldehyde and Cardamom to set the scene in the sky, with a bright atmosphere accentuated by coolness, symbolizing the movement of both figures through the air. Cumin Seed adds a touch of warmth to the passionate romance amidst the timeless enchantment, enhanced by the intense heat of Black Pepper. The sweet yet tangy scent of Bulgarian Rose represents the initial bold desires of the mighty Garuda and another protagonist of this fragrance, the wild Oud from the Prachin Buri province, aged for over 20 years. This distinctive scent of enchantment signifies the passionate and unbreakable fire of desire between the mighty one and the beautiful maiden, melding their scents into one.
